Meet the Speakers
Laurel Aguilar-Kirchoff
Laurel Aguilar-Kirchhoff is an award-winning educator, author, and lecturer at California State University, San Bernardino. Laurel is a veteran middle school teacher and administrator, and specializes in empowering both pre-service teachers and veteran district leaders to meaningfully integrate technology. She is a three-time ISTE author and national speaker who bridges the gap between pedagogical theory and classroom practice with a focus on human-centered learning.
Bill Wilmot
Bill Wilmot believes that school can be redesigned for all students. As a Senior Implementation Specialist, he works with school teams to rethink curriculum, instruction, and learning environments to provide access to all, using the UDL framework as a tool for redesign.
Bill also brings his experience as a school leader and math, science, and music teacher in a variety of inclusive schools, project-based, and arts-integrated schools. He also brings a special interest in the role of social emotional learning in achieving academic and personal goals. He is also interested in the use of Artificial intelligence to enhance human thinking and ensure access for all learners. His impulse to teach grew out of his journey through rocky and transformative school experiences. From this he believes firmly in the need to reshape the relationship between students and teachers from control and compliance toward mutual learning and ownership.
David Sallay
David (FIP, CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, CDMP-Associate) has worked on student data privacy issues since 2017, which has included developing a series of popular student privacy videos and working as the Chief Privacy Officer at the Utah State Board of Education and directing student and child privacy work at the Future of Privacy Forum and at the Student Data Privacy Consortium (SDPC). In these roles, he works to find reasonable, practical, and creative solutions for schools to use data and educational technology tools to help students learn while protecting their privacy. Prior to working in privacy, he worked in teaching English as a foreign language and as an editor, so he also has thoughts on language learning and comma usage.
Dr. Symone Campbell
Dr. Symone Campbell is a researcher at the Siegel Family Endowment and Adjunct Professor of AI Ethics at Howard University in the Data Science Department and Department of Human Development. With expertise in the socio-cultural aspects of technology, she is passionate about advancing technology that serves the needs of underrepresented students. Over the past decade, she has dedicated her career to strengthening culturally relevant educational experiences and leveraging her expertise to bridge gaps between research, technology, and equitable learning opportunities. Dr. Campbell is an alumna of the SUNY system, earning her B.A. from Buffalo State University and an M.A. from the University at Albany, and a proud HBCU graduate where she completed her Ph.D. in Communication, Culture, and Media Studies from Howard University.
